Tip: Listen to NPR Music on Sonos

Many of you may have already tuned in to NPR for its wealth of educational content, talk shows, and news, but did you know about NPR Music? This subset of the public broadcasting station is actually available on Sonos. Although you’ll need to do a tiny bit of digging to access the content, it’s actually quite simple. And since NPR Music has a great selection of free music, we want to make it even easier by laying out the steps here.

In this example, we take you to a feature called Tiny Desk Sessions, where you can listen to intimate recordings of artists such as Adele and Josh Ritter, who are recorded desk-side by All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen.

How to listen to NPR Music on Sonos

Step 1: Using one of the Sonos Controllers, navigate to Radio > Shows > Search.

Step 2: In the search bar, type in “NPR Music.” Then, click the magnifying glass icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Finally, click “Live Concerts.”

The Live Concerts section includes all of the Tiny Desk Sessions available. You can also access other live music recordings, such as those made during the SXSW 2011 conference. And don’t forget to take a step or two back and check out all of the other free music on offer in the NPR Music section.
