On December 12, 1792, Ludwig van Beethoven received his first music lesson from renowned composer Joseph Haydn. They initially met almost two years earlier when Haydn, travelling from Vienna, stopped in Bonn on his way to perform in London. When Haydn saw Beethoven again on his return journey, he was so impressed with the young composer’s work that he invited him to become his pupil.
Today’s playlist celebrates the music of Beethoven, his teachers, and his musical contemporaries. Have a listen.
