The infamous Van Halen concert rider

On Sunday, Sonos decked out the dressing rooms backstage at the MTV European Video Awards. We didn’t get to check out any of the artists’ riders while we were there, but we’re fairly certain none were quite as demanding as the infamous Van Halen M&Ms rider. Curious as to what exactly the band required? The infographic below illustrates the rider in all its glory.

Love it! But hate the typo in the first sentence: “…but not before sending it’s demands to the venues it would [be] rocking.” (the “be” is missing)

If you are going to criticize, perhaps you should check your work. The word “it’s” should be “its” (the infographic used the correct version). ;)

Hi Theresa — Thanks for the catch! We’ve corrected the error.

Not included with the food, the “no brown M&Ms” item was buried down in a technical area of the rider. It was the band’s way to see if the venue and promoter had indeed read the entire contract, not because of some odd loathing of brown candy. Rather clever.

exactly, nothing ridiculous about it at all..

The M&Ms item was their “canary in the coal mine” test. But yes, most of the rider is ridiculous. ッ

    Ridiculous

This isn’t that bad of a rider. I’ve seen worse. John Legend’s is up there
