Sonos rocked out at the NME Awards 2013, toasting some of the greatest talent in music history. With performances from rock legends including mod father Paul Weller and Rolling Stones hero Ronnie Wood, who also collected the Best Live Band and Best Music Film on behalf his band mates, we knew the night would not be a quiet one!
Sonos was the sponsor of the much coveted Best British Band category for a second year running and Scottish superstars Biffy Clyro walked away with the iconic trophy, as well as opening up the night with a rendition of ‘The Captain’.
Whilst comedian Russell Kane tried in vain to entertain an already rowdy crowd, the night hit a climax when the master of indie music and guitarist to The Smiths, Johnny Marr picked up the award for Godlike Genius. After accepting the prestigious gong Marr then proceeded to grace the stage with a six-song set including Smiths classics, ‘How Soon Is Now?’ and ‘There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’, and was joined on stage by Ronnie Wood and The Vaccines’ Justin Young during his performance.
